Summer Reading

In our ongoing search for the best in summer reading recommendations, we bring you a selection from the American Library Association (ALA).

  • Library Fact Sheet #17 - Perhaps the ALA needs some help with catchy titles. Click on the "summer reading" link for lists for children and adults. Fun fact from this fact sheet - summer reading programs have been around since the 1800's
  • Library Fact Sheet #23 - What happened in fact sheets #18-22? We may never know. But this one gives the ALA's Greatest Hits reading recommendation lists. 
  • Children's Summer Reading - from the Association for Library Service to Children
  • Recommended (but not part of ALA) Choices reading lists for children and young adults from the International Reading Association
  • Great Reads Blog - which happens to be featuring "Books That Will Make You Cancel Your Camping Trip"
  • Book Groups - List of Lists - recommended sites for finding the best of book group picks.
  • Booklist Online - Round up of featured book reviews and blogs, published by ALA

And speaking of libraries - our own Kellogg Hubbard Library had a great event Wednesday night with political cartoonist Jeff Danziger. We learned that he tries to send out two cartoons per day.
